LESSONS

I've been teaching lessons in NYC for over 10 years with a focus on Voice, Guitar, and Piano. I play and teach in all styles, from pop, rock, to blues, soul, country, jazz, and musical theatre.

I have a Bachelors of Music in Musical Theatre from Oklahoma City University (2013). Teaching experience in NYC includes Little Maestros, The Perry School, Mondo Music and Macquarie Group.

My philosophy is that the art form of song is central to learning how to play music, whether vocal or instrumental.

Learning songs teaches us how to play in rhythm, how to phrase, use dynamics, and craft a performance that is authentic to us.

Simultaneously, I focus on techniques and exercises that augment the student's ability to perform with ease. I call these exercises "rudiments" because they are rudimentary to the understanding of the instrument, and because they begin each lesson and practice session.

Overall, I find that a combination of technique and repertoire is what makes the study of an instrument successful.

Please drop a line, and let me know what you're interested in learning. I'd love the chance to work with you.

Each semester I try to make sure each student has the opportunity to perform alongside other students if they choose.

Here is my voice student Ruby's performance of a Bruno Mars song from her recital on June 14, 2025 with myself on piano.
A few related clips - Above, my senior project at OCU, I was part of the acapella group, writing and arranging music. This arrangement of the Eagles' "Hole in the World" features myself as soloist. Below, guitar and piano reels from instagram. Feel free to follow me there for more updates.
